Lot Tracking

Lot tracking gives manufacturers and retailers the ability to track, fulfill by expiration/freshness dates, and properly recall product lots along the supply chain.

Importance of Lot Tracking

The ability to track and recall products is crucial to the health and sustainability of many B2C eCommerce businesses.

From consumer goods to cosmetics to health and food products, there are several government entities that oversee an immense range of product recalls.

SmartWMS & SmartFill

RSL’s SmartWMS (warehouse management system) and SmartFill (client-interfacing platform) are integrated and automated to provide complete lot traceability on an order level.

When products designated for lot tracking enter the system, unique lot numbers are captured at product induction. The products are automatically picked by expiration dates with the oldest items selected first (FIFO). If a lot has expired, the system automatically flags the batch and the products is removed from the pick rotation. In the event of a recall, product lots are easily tracked from warehouse to customer.

Climate Control

RSL has climate-controlled order fulfillment center locations in the US.  A climate-controlled warehouse is air conditioned. 

The climate inside the storage unit is monitored and there are alarms present that warn about temperature and humidity level variations. 

There are several products other than food and drink that benefit from temperature controlled fulfillment centers, including:

What is a 3PL?

3PL is an acronym for third-party logistics. This simply refers to a company with which a business chooses to partner to handle logistics needs, including warehousing, fulfillment, and distribution services. What is 3PL order fulfillment?
